The Phew team get fundraising

31 May 2017

Andrew Tate

We’ve got two team members taking part in big charity events this summer, both hoping to raise money to support those suffering with cancer.

We all know someone who has suffered from this terrible disease, so to try and help two of the largest cancer support charities, Kern and Jaz will be pushing their boundaries and challenging themselves in the name of fundraising.

What does it entail?

Kern and his fellow golfers will be taking on a championship distance of 72 holes, 300(ish) shots and 20 miles of walking.

Last year saw over 3,000 teams cross the UK sign up to play 72 holes in just one day, and raise 1.5 million for people affected by cancer.

I’ve barely played 4 rounds of golf in the last 10 years and now I’m attempting to do 4 in just one day – walking 26 miles carrying my clubs – and that’s if I hit the ball straight!!

What does it entail?

This isn’t just your usual Race for Life. It’s a muddy obstacle course that women of any ability can climb over, crawl under, and charge through.

Cancer plays dirty but so do we.

I can barely run 5 meters so this is definitely going to be a challenge for me! Having lost multiple family members to cancer, this is a cause particularly close to my heart, as I know it is for many others, which is why I want to push myself to do something out of my comfort zone and really go for it. Plus climbing up and over obstacles in the mud does sound like a pretty fun way to spend the day!

We wish them luck!
