MEC Medical Ltd. are a leading manufacturer and supplier of Medical Gas Pipeline Products, Oxygen Therapy, Medical Gas Test Equipment and Anaesthesia Gas Scavenging Systems (AGSS) in the UK and throughout the world.
Initially MEC came to us with a vision to redesign and restructure their existing site, which served a purpose but wasn’t performing or generating the sales it should have been. Our mission was to turn the site into a sales facility, focusing on generating sales from new and existing customers and providing MEC with ROI.
After much discussion, we decided the best direction to take the site in would be to develop it into an online shop, simplifying the purchasing process for the customer and for MEC.
The specialist functionality of the site is the eCommerce element. The main reason for the online shop is to enhance the sales process between MEC and the customer and to enable customers to easily purchase the products they require. It can also be used as a tool for their sales team, giving them one central location for all their product information.
The site has been developed on an easy-to-use content management system (CMS) which allows MEC to add and make updates to the products, pages, news items, links and the promotional slider on the homepage. This feature enables MEC to be self-sufficient when it comes to managing the site content, allowing them to remain in control of what appears on their website.
The Hose Configurator tool enables customers to generate a customised Hose Configurator, allowing them to build one specifically for their needs. On selecting the different components an image is then generated of the customised product. They can then add the configurator to an enquiry form along with their contact details and send it over to MEC for a quote.
The introduction of the digital catalogue was another angle we thought we could assist MEC with improving their sales process. Having their product catalogue online means MEC are able to make updates to their product line without having to reprint the catalogues and could easily notify potential or existing customers of these new products by sending them the catalogue link.
As part of the site development, we also optimised the site, using search statistics to determine which keywords would have the highest conversion. From completing the Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) research and implementation, we’ve been able to steadily build qualified traffic to the MEC site which is now converting into sales.
